| For more than two decades, manuell from Zurich has been honing his musical skills with turntables, mixers, controllers and less obvious instruments of music reproduction. While producing classic vinyl or tractor-based mixes as “manuell”, he also plays a more live-oriented set using controllers, drum computers and the odd other piece of equipment under the name of “manuell maschinell”. In this configuration he explores what modern technology hast to offer and takes a step away from regular DJing. By indulging in the possibilities of realtime sampling, looping, tinkering, layering and filtering he comes up with his own plot lines or even creates his own music. At present manuell is a moderator of the radio-show Active Beats @ Radio Stadtfilter & Radio RaBe. Active Beats is a sublabel of the radio-show Galaxy Space Night and plays every saturday at 9pm on air on Radio RaBe FM 95.6 MHz and Radio Stadtfilter FM 96.3 MHz. Watch out for the dates when Toxicangel and manuell are on air and invite guest deejays for interviews and special radio mixes with them! Recently manuell has joined the team responsible for the famous and legendary unicorn parties at Zurich’s Cabaret club. (KTV, Berlin), Curateur Del Musique (Wysiwyg, Berlin), Chaos Communication Congress (Berlin), Flausch Couch (Meyers Theater, ZH), Walfisch (Cabaret, ZH), Reaktor (Winterthur), Profitreff (ZH), Raumstation (St. Gallen), Pan-O-Rama (La Gomera), Take a Dance (Loop38, ZH), Open-Air Electronic Woods (Winterthur) and many more… Besides club music, the “Monday-Mix by manuell” has for two years been broadcasted weekly live on the net. The Monday-Mix features sound that is a smooth mix of electronica, deep- and dub-techno and many of manuell’s field-recordings. Initially, this was meant to be a mix for his best friends, but very soon it became a well known address for the perfect musical mood on a Monday. Listen to some Monday-Mixes on Soundcloud.
